Why New Year's Resolutions SUCK & What To Do Instead

new-years-resolutions

With 2015 coming to a close, many people have the want to improve their lives and make this upcoming year even "better" than before. The typical answer to everyone's problem is making a New Year's Resolution....or several for the extra-ambitious. BUT I've never been a big believer in New Year's Resolutions, and here's why:

The problem with the resolution fad is that most people only focus on what's wrong with their current lives, instead of focusing on what's currently good.

They have an urge to fix their problems by starting out the new year with some very lofty goals. Yet, most of these goals are damn near unattainable.....In fact, I don't think I've ever heard of someone in December preaching how they ate a green smoothie every day for a whole year. Sticking to something for 52 weeks & 365 days just doesn't happen. I know first-hand the disappointment that comes with breaking a promise to yourself; you feel defeated, you revert back to your old ways, and you start having those self-depreciating thoughts that got you in a rut in the first place...... a.k.a it f**king sucks.

So instead of living in the past and worrying about the future, I wanted to live in the now by making a list of the things, big and small, that I am absolutely grateful for. Some may surprise you, some may open your eyes to things you wouldn't ever think of, and others may give you that little laugh you've been hoping for.

This year, trying making your own list of the things you're grateful for instead of what you would like to change. Focusing on positive thoughts will make for a more positive life. I can promise you that <3
