This past month, Manitoba Harvest sent me a package of their Hemp Hearts to try out and review. I had never even heard of these bad boys before, but with my new found love for all things hemp, I knew I was in for a treat. These little Hemp Hearts contain about 10 g of protein & 10 g of omega-3's (per 30 g serving) and are lower in carbohydrates compared to their Superfood counterparts, Flax and Chia seeds. They also are raw, vegan and non-GMO, making them a nutritional powerhouse.  I experimented with adding them into smoothies and topping them on my salads, but my favorite recipe using these Hemp Hearts was in a breakfast parfait with my favorite, bananas and chocolate!
Check it out below and get ready to fall in (hemp)love!

INGREDIENTS:
-1 & 1/4 c coconut milk
-1/4 c Chia seeds
-2 tbsp Cacao powder
-1/4 c plain Greek yogurt
-1 tsp coconut oil
-1 & 1/2 bananas
-1 tbsp pure maple syrup
-1 tsp pure vanilla extract
-1 tbsp Hemp Hearts

METHOD:
Combine coconut milk, Chia seeds & Cacao powder in a small container. Place in fridge for 2 hours until it thickens. Slice bananas and place in a small skillet with coconut oil over medium-high heat for 1 minute (or until bananas start to sizzle). Add maple syrup and vanilla to skillet. Stir for another minute. Remove from heat and let cool. Start to layer a jar with the Chia pudding, Greek Yogurt & Bananas Foster....make sure you sprinkle the Hemp Hearts on top of each layer.
